The Dodge Charger is an incredible vehicle in its own right; it's an American muscle car icon and all of us at Mitchell Chrysler Dodge RAM absolutely love it. So when an SRT version was announced, you can be sure we were very excited. And, of course, we couldn't wait to share the news here on our blog for all of our faithful readers.
Late last month, the automaker revealed the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 392 Appearance Package at the Spring Festival of LXs in Irvine, California by SRT CEO Ralph Gilles. It was, to put it lightly, well received. This package will be a treasure hunter's delight indeed, as only an appropriate 392 will be produced between the 2013 and 2014 model years. Orders are being taken all this month but, of course, let's get to what's most important: the power, performance, and style it offers.
The exterior comes off as dark and dangerous, with black details all over. Black vapor Chrome alloy wheels measure a broad 20-inches, teamed with a black roof panel, hood bulge, spoiler, and mirror caps. Model-specific striping and badging rounds out the exterior. You'll even have five colors to choose from: Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy and TorRed. They all look amazing paired with the black accents, so you can't go wrong.
Under the hood, you'll find the standard SRT8 affair, though that's in no way a disadvantage. A 6.4-liter HEMI V8 heart beats in the chest of this beast, pumping out 470 horsepower and an equal pound-feet of torque on a rear-wheel drive transmission. Stay tight to the ground through all turns the pavement can throw at you with a new launch control system and retuned three-mode adaptive suspension.
